Finding What Works for You

%
Permission to Experiment

here’s no single strategy that works for everyone, or even one strategy that works for you all the time. We try things, pay attention to what helps, adjust what doesn’t, and build a toolbox you can come back to as your needs and circumstances change.

try. notice. adjust

There’s More Than One Way to Make Something Easier

Sometimes a small change can make a big difference. Maybe you want to eat more protein, move your body more often, get to bed earlier, or finally deal with something you keep putting off. We can make the first step smaller, remove a decision, change something in your environment, use a timer, or simply choose one thing instead of trying to change everything at once.

None of those is the answer. They’re tools to experiment with. What matters is noticing what helps you get started, follow through or make the thing you want to do a little easier. And when something stops working, we adjust instead of deciding you failed.

Start With One Thing

What Could Make This Easier?

Instead of trying to change everything at once, we choose one thing that matters to you and get curious about what could make it easier. Maybe the first step needs to be smaller. Maybe there are too many decisions involved, the timing isn’t great, or something could be prepared ahead of time. The goal isn’t to find the perfect strategy. It’s to find something that feels doable enough to try.

How Do We Know If It’s Working

We pay attention to what happens. Did it make the thing easier to start or easier to repeat? Did it work on a busy day, or only when everything lined up perfectly? What helped? What got in the way? If something works, we can build on it. If it doesn’t, that gives us useful information too. We adjust and try something else.

Different Tools for Different Days

Make It Easier

Sometimes the answer isn’t trying harder. It’s making the thing easier to do. Fewer steps, fewer decisions, better timing, a change in your environment or simply starting smaller can reduce the friction between wanting to do something and actually doing it.

Make It Work for Your Brain

Different brains respond to different things. Timers, reminders, visual cues, body doubling, music, novelty or pairing something you avoid with something you enjoy might help. You don’t need to use every tool. You’re looking for the ones that make things easier for you.

Change the Tool When You Need To

Something can work really well for a while and then stop working. Your routines change. Your energy changes. Life changes. That doesn’t mean the strategy failed or you failed. It might simply mean you need a different tool for what life looks like right now.

You’re Allowed to Change What Works

Finding what works for you doesn’t mean finding one perfect system and sticking with it forever. What helps now might not be what helps six months from now. That’s okay. We can keep paying attention, adjusting and adding new tools as your life changes.
